In follow up to the recent US Squash communication regarding the rapid and unprecedented spread of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) throughout the country, the association has continued to evaluate this dynamic situation and national response to it. The protection of the health and well-being of our participants and their families are our most important considerations.
In light of this and what we know at this point, after considerable discussion, the Board and management have agreed that the organization has no choice other than to cancel the scheduled dates for the upcoming National Championships. US Squash will also suspend accredited junior squash competition effective immediately through the end of April.
We recognize the importance of the championships for the athletes and we make this move reluctantly with the understanding that our athletes have worked hard to achieve what they have and we want to do all we can to permit them to compete for national titles. We have been through similar circumstances before, though not on this scale–and it is complicated–however we are committed to doing everything we can reasonably do to preserve this season’s National Championships.
As such, we will continue to monitor and evaluate the national circumstances related to the response to the coronavirus. If we are able to re-schedule National Championships, we will do so. We will keep the community informed and will provide enough advance notice of additional adaptations to schedules, events and policies to allow our members to adjust and to plan accordingly.

Junior Accredited Competition
In addition, all US Squash accredited junior squash competition is suspended effective immediately through the end of April, and the first weekend in May. US Squash will provide regular updates regarding the planned resumption of accredited junior squash tournaments and will provide as much advance notice to this effect as possible.
Withdrawals and Refunds
As announced on March 3, US Squash has waived the late-withdrawal rankings penalty for junior tournaments and this will remain in place until further notice.
Refund policies will vary by accredited tournament depending on the timing of cancellation, however most participants will receive the full refund minus the standard administrative fee. For National Championships, if the competition ends up not being re-scheduled, entrants will have the option to receive the full refund minus the standard administrative fee. A process for this is being put in place and participants will be notified directly via email when refunds can be claimed.

We understand that while not everyone will fully agree with our course of action, we do hope people understand that our decisions are rooted in our prioritizing the health and well-being of our members and their families and our belief that we also have a role in supporting the national response to this outbreak. We also believe this is a time to pull together as a community to support each other and US Squash stands ready to do this for you in any way possible.
